jeremy’s austro-daimler vent noir
Helped Jeremy put together his Austro-Daimler Vent Noir conversion this past weekend… he’s 6′5″, so finding a bike the right size can be hard. I think this turned out really nicely — a classy conversion for summer.

Just caught this absolutely fascinating series of framebuilding videos from Akio Tanabe, the master framebuilder for Kalavinka in Tokyo.
Video 1: Fitting the bottom bracket.
Video 2: Brazing the bottom bracket.
Video 3: Fork brazing.
Video 4: Fork brazing.
Video 5: Head lug filing.
Video 6: Fork dropout filing.
I absolutely adore my Kalavinka, unbelievably fine bicycle and a really rewarding process.

Great bit on Rapha’s website on independent framebuilders. The feature has a series of interviews with fantastic interviews from the obvious (Richard Sachs atmo, Independent Fabrication) to the more obscure (Chris Igleheart, Rick Hunter.)
I’ve only had the fortune to work with Stephen Bilenky out of all of the builders, and solely for a repair — the revamp of the Guerciotti GL7100 Pista I picked up a long while back. Beautiful repair work, either way, and great folks.

The other. This is the one that was repaired, rides perfectly.
Built for the Alfa Romeo/De Rosa team…
Had a chance to clean them up, applied a bit of Butcher’s Wax, good to go.
West Coast Shoe has been around since 1918, making insanely tough, handmade in the US boots. I’ve never owned custom shoes before, and have been looking for a pair of tough, reparable boots for a long time. Took about 8 weeks to turn them around, and wow… amazing. Super comfortable, and look great. I’m looking forward to seeing how they wear in over time.
