dkny ‘ghost bikes’
In NYC and in other cities, when a cyclist gets killed local bike advocates will leave a fully white spraypainted bike chained up where the rider was hit. It’s a small reminder for everyone to watch out and share the road — particularly poignant in a city like NYC which has so many people in so little space.
DKNY, the clothing company, recently left a series of neon-orange spraypainted bikes around the city labelled with “DKNY.com” indicating their own enthusiasm for cycling (or advertising, or something.)
Some folks in the cycling community were not terribly happy with the symmetry between the DKNY ads and the ghost bikes. One of our favorite cycling supporters (cough) didn’t love the display either, apparently.

After blogging for about 8 years using my old system, I’ve decided to start afresh. There was an enormous amount of content on the old site that I don’t really feel was relevant anymore, so it’s time to move on. This should be significantly more fresh.
